Our Music: The Center of the X7 Universe.
"Everything in our band stems from the music." Michael explains, "We respect what we do and feel that our music itself is something to be enjoyed and and not something to be descibed by us in too much detail. As far as the lyric's subject matter is concerned, there are many things that should be left up to the listener to interpret and use for their own theraputic purposes. Hans, Geoff, and I agreed that we would leave most of the details in a veil of mystery. Regarding methods or ground rules in our approach to creating the music, there are some things that we are willing to discuss. The music is influenced only by our desire to put forth a focused artistic expression. On our debut release we made it a point not to be too scattered with respect to the treatment of each song as well as with respect to style and sonic structure. We did not want to release 11 songs that sounded like 11 different bands. We wanted to create our style's foundation. It had to represent the natural chemistry that was present when we first played together. It was essential that we establish a foundation that we knew we could build upon and evolve from with confidence. That was always in the forefront of our minds throughout the entire process. It was with all of this in mind that we kept everything very simple and straight forward. We wanted to keep the music within a down and dirty almost live rock band feel with a touch of sophistication at the same time. With respect to style, we have many influences but never approach any of our songs with a particular band or exact genre of music in mind. In terms of song development and arrangement, we like to get out of the way of the songs and let them be independent almost in the way you would raise a child. We let their natural character shape their form and do not force them to be something they are not or never will be. This process sounds like a simple approach but it actually requires a great amount of discretion and the ability to accurately prescribe solutions to creative problems."
